From Interfaith Power and Light (http://interfaithpowerandlight.org):
This Valentine’s Day make plans to plant trees to make your love visible for your children and grandchildren who will breathe the clean air these trees provide.
“For Love of Trees” is part of this year’s Faith Climate Action Week, “Love Made Visible: Engaging in Sacred Activism” to protect the people we love and care about who are most impacted by climate change.

Hold a public tree planting ceremony on your congregational grounds or public space as a way to make the moral call for climate action. Post your public tree planting on the IPL calendar of so we can amplify your event.
Use the “For Love of Trees” tree blessing ceremony in the Faith Climate Action Week kit that includes a lovely Native American song, “Beauty is before me”, a poem, and facts about the importance of trees. Invite the press using the included press invitation and press advisory to make the connection between your tree planting event and the moral call to act on climate. It’s a great photo opportunity for the press.
Report your trees planted on the “For Love of Trees” webpage starting now through the end of spring planting season! IPL is partnering with the United Church of Christ to see how many trees we can get planted!
If you are not planting trees yourself, donate to plant and protect trees in the Global South through IPL’s Carbon Covenant program. Be sure to add them to our count – Let’s blow the world away with the number of trees we plant this year!

Trees are a reminder of our connection with God’s Creation, our dependence on the natural world for our very breath. Thank you for taking part in this sacred action.
