From the National Council of Churches (http://www.ncccusa.org):
The Johnson Amendment is part of the IRS Code that prevents non-profit organizations from endorsing political candidates. Non-profit groups, including churches, can already speak out on important political issues, even lobby Congress to vote in favor or oppose particular bills. However, a few in the religious community are working to increase their political influence by removing this provision so they can funnel money to their preferred candidate. But people of faith overwhelmingly say no, we don’t want politics in our churches.
Send Congress a message today at https://www.oneclickpolitics.com/messages/edit?promo_id=3206. Protect faith communities from electoral politics!
