From Oxfam America (http://www.oxfamamerica.org):
You’ve no doubt heard about and seen the heartbreaking images of victims of an alleged chemical attack in Syria, and the debate in Washington about how to respond this week.
The people of Syria have been subject to intense fighting for years and there is no doubt that they need our support. These are the people the U.S. can protect when we welcome refugees. But instead of offering a safe haven to families fleeing atrocious violence, the current administration’s policies have slowed refugee admissions to the U.S. to a trickle.
Since the start of 2018, the US has admitted only 11 Syrian refugees.
That’s right – of the millions of Syrian civilians fearing for their lives and fighting to support their families, the US has granted protection to just 11 of them this year. Please share this fact with your friends and family to spread the word:

We simply must do better.
As you know, just before their April recess, Congress rejected the proposed cuts to U.S. foreign aid that fights poverty and includes supporting refugees overseas. This is an important win, but for the most vulnerable refugees, providing aid is simply not enough. Just yesterday, Secretary of Defense Mattis spoke about the urgency of the Syrian refugee situation.
