From the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (http://www.nrcat.org):
As attention in Washington, DC this week rightly turns to indictments in the Russia investigation, let’s not forget the over 22 million people still trapped in the worst global refugee crisis in decades. Rather than giving hope and aid to those fleeing torture, violence, and persecution, President Trump has cut the number of refugees that the U.S. will accept this fiscal year to a historic low of 45,000.
To make matters even worse, in addition to drastically cutting the total number of refugees, President Trump also signed a harsh executive order mandating extreme vetting for refugees, a process which will likely ensure that the number of refugees admitted into the U.S. will be even lower. This newest order includes a travel ban deliberately targeting several Muslim-majority nations — an egregious display of religious bigotry against many of those most impacted by persecution and violence.
Go to http://org.salsalabs.com/o/2162/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=22500 and tell Your Members of Congress: I Support Refugee Resettlement.
As these measures go into effect, and are likely to face further legal challenges, it is important that Congress hear this week that you support refugee resettlement and oppose the use of religion as a litmus test for admission to the U.S.
Thank you for making your voice heard.
