From the Endangered Species Coalition (https://www.endangered.org/):
Do you have plans for Endangered Species Day this year? If you’re not sure what you’re doing yet, we have a suggestion: lead a nature walk in your community!
Find out more about leading a nature walk for Endangered Species Day at https://www.endangered.org/17-for-the-17th-nature-walks/.
The 17th annual Endangered Species Day will take place this year on May 20th (this Friday!), and we’re encouraging people around the country to host nature walks and teach others to identify local plant and animal species. You can lead a walk in your neighborhood, a local park or preserve, a backyard or garden – anywhere! A nature walk is a great way to:
- Spend Endangered Species Day outdoors
- Connect with biodiversity
- Learn and teach others about species in your local area
- Build community and connection
Especially if you are a scientist, naturalist, teacher, outdoor educator, or nature enthusiast, we encourage you to consider leading a nature walk for Endangered Species Day. Our goal is to hold dozens of walks around the country this week or the week after!
