Medicaid Matters Video Series Focuses on PA Schools

From Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children (http://www.papartnerships.org):

With summer coming to a close, kids are heading back to school. And for some kids, that means receiving Medicaid-covered, health-related services at school to help them reach their fullest potential.

The latest video in our series – Medicaid Matters – highlights a short message from Nathan Mains, CEO of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, discussing why Medicaid matters to school districts across Pennsylvania.

More than 525 local education agencies – most of which are school districts – participate in the School-Based ACCESS Program (SBAP) in Pennsylvania receiving Medicaid reimbursement to help provide medically necessary health-related services for kids with disabilities. In fact, more than 2.7 million SBAP services were provided and paid by Medicaid in 2015-2016.

In addition to Nathan’s video, check out our factsheet further explaining the connection between Medicaid and Pennsylvania’s schools.

Keep looking for future posts from other grasstops leaders across sectors such as health care, child welfare, early learning and education on why Medicaid and CHIP matter to them.
