Lancaster Interchurch Peace Witness has scheduled the following free Films at St. John’s Episcopal Church in the Parish Hall, 321 West Chestnut St., Lancaster.
Friday, June 23, 7:30 pm, “FROM THE ASHES” 2017 film that wrestles with the legacy of the coal industry, going beyond the rhetoric to present compelling stories about what’s at stake for the US economy, our health and climate.
Friday, July 28, 7:30 pm “NATIONAL BIRD” 2016 film that follows the dramatic journey of three whistleblowers and US veterans who are determined to break the silence of the secret US drone war.
Friday August 25, 7:30pm “THIRTEENTH” 2016 film by director Ava Duvernay, explores the intersection of race, justice and mass incarceration in the US. Titled after the 13th. Amendment to the US Constitution, which freed the slaves and prohibited slavery.
There is limited off- street parking on West Chestnut St., in the Ecklin Development lot; curbside parking and handicapped parking, Concord St., alley is also available. Free popcorn and lemonade is optional after the films. Questions? E mail heilmangirl@gmail.com.
