Thanks to years of hard work by you and millions of others, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is extremely unlikely to be approved during the “Lame Duck” session. You can help box and bury this awful deal for good by joining the National Call-In Days urging your U.S. Representative to reject the TPP’s revival and any future TPP-like trade agreements.
TAKE ACTION: Please call Congress now at 1-888-659-7351 and urge them to reject all TPP-style trade agreements (http://stopthetpp.org/call-congress/).
Here’s what to say when you call:
This is [NAME] calling from [CITY/TOWN]. I want to leave a message urging the Representative to publicly state that the TPP should not be revived and that he or she will oppose any future trade agreements like it. Can you please pass that on for me?
If there was one thing voters agreed on during this contentious election season, it’s that we’ve had enough of backroom trade deals. The TPP epitomizes the unjust, rigged-system dynamic that a transpartisan majority so clearly opposes.
Negotiated for years behind closed doors with the aid of hundreds of corporate lobbyists, the TPP would enrich corporate elites while posing huge threats to the economy, environment and public health for almost everyone else.
Now that we’re so close to defeating it, we need to ensure that not only is the TPP abandoned forever — but also the entire model it’s built upon.
We have a chance to stop this corporate power grab once and for all, and to send a clear message to Congress that we won’t be fooled by a repackaging of TPP-like ideas in the future.
Defeating the TPP for good will be a historic victory for the cross-sector, international peoples’ movements that have been fighting it. One of the final steps in this years-long campaign is flooding Congress’ phone lines with calls from constituents like you who didn’t suddenly forget about this issue the moment the election ended. That’s why we’re partnering with over 100 other organizations in making this ask of you now.
