From the Committee of Seventy (https://www.seventy.org/):
That’s the motto of OpenPrimaries, a New York-based nonprofit that advocates against closed systems such as PA’s, in which only registered Ds and Rs can vote in their own primaries, and registered independents and third-party voters—a millennial-heavy group whose numbers have shot up 150% in the last 20 years— are shut out on primary day. Primary day is the de-facto election day for most Philly offices, thanks to the Ds’ 7-1 registration advantage. So why not open things up, Seventy Civic Engagement Consultant Chris Satullo argues in The Inquirer’s “Center Square” column at http://www.philly.com/philly/opinion/425002743.html.
