From Friends Committee on National Legislation (http://www.fcnl.org):

We are outraged and saddened by the massacre in Orlando on Sunday. We have seen how hate and terror foster violence. And we know that violence breeds more violence. We are holding the families and communities most directly touched by this tragedy in our thoughts and in the LoveThyNeighborLight. And our intentions and hopes are for the collective commitment we share with millions of people around the globe to end the hatred and violence.

FCNL lobbies Congress and the administration for the policy changes that can create a world with equity and justice, a world free of war and the threat of war. We do this day in and day out here in Washington, DC. And we will continue to persistently work for legislation that promotes a better world where love triumphs over fear.

You are part of this community–because of your actions and support of FCNL– but also because of the daily actions you take in your own communities–actions that let your life speak about the dignity and value of every person.

Recently, FCNL started a campaign we’re calling #LoveThyNeighbor to give a public way for people to counter bigotry and hatefulness. We’ve asked our network of FCNL supporters around the country to participate. Today, our staff and volunteers are sharing this campaign with everyone who passes by FCNL’s building on Capitol Hill.

I hope you will join us in this simple action by taking your own photo with someone in your community. You can find everything you need to be part of this effort at fcnl.org/lovethyneighbor. If you share you photo on social media, please use the hashtag #LoveThyNeighbor.

Through this tragedy in Orlando and other violence perpetuated in our world, I hope that you will sustain your commitment to non-violence, to the challenging work of countering hatefulness, and to creating policies that promote a more just and peaceful world. I hope you will continue to be part of FCNL’s work as we act together for the world we seek.
