Join the Pennsylvania Poor People’s Campaign

From Put People First! PA (http://putpeoplefirstpa.org/):

Join the Council and thousands around the country participating in the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, a broad and deep national movement — led by the poor, marginalized and moral agents and reflecting the great moral teachings — to unite our country from the bottom up. Together, we are taking a stand against systemic racism, poverty, the war economy and ecological degradation.

Here are a few local and national updates, as well as ways you and the organizations and communities you’re part of can get involved!

Here in Pennsylvania, the Poor People’s Campaign is now on Facebook and Twitter @PennsylvaniaPPC. Please “like” the FB page and follow the Twitter so that we can begin to spread the word through social media!

Continue to spread and share the PPC pledge card which will help us connect to more people who want to be involved.

Please read and think about/discuss the Campaign Principles and check out and share the Souls of Poor folk.

The activities of the PPC over the next year will be broadly open to all people and groups who want to participate. The coordination of the campaign in PA will proceed from the following principles:

  • A commitment to political independence and holding all power-holders accountable
  • A commitment to disrupting the left/right binary and building the unity of the poor and dispossessed across all lines of division
  • Identifying the root causes of poverty, racism, militarism and environmental destruction
  • A commitment to real base building and real leadership development for, by and of the poor and dispossessed
  • A commitment to building power in all corners of the state and bridging the urban and rural divide
