Help End Gerrymandering—Join Fair Districts PA at the Polls May 21

From Fair Districts PA (http://www.fairdistrictspa.com):

Polling Place Outreach is an essential part of what we do. In the last three election cycles we have gathered nearly 50,000 names of voters who are now on record urging legislators to support the creation of an independent citizens commission to draw our congressional and state legislative districts.

Volunteering with Fair Districts PA is strictly nonpartisan. You will be able to connect with voters of all political backgrounds around the shared belief that voters should choose their legislators, not the other way around.

Here’s what other polling place volunteers have said was their favorite part of the day:

  • “Most everyone was nice and willing to chat. It was heartening that so many people were concerned about fairness.” – Chester County volunteer
  • “Getting a feel for the community, talking with my co-volunteer, and talking to both Republicans and Democrats.”  – Wayne County volunteer

Here are a few other things to know:

  • Shifts are 3-4 hours long.
  • We will provide materials and instructions you need to have a successful day.
  • We will assign you to a poll based on your location and availability. If your legislators already support FDPA’s reform legislation, you will be assigned to travel to another district where we are hoping to win over the legislator.

We would love to see carpools of volunteers descend on strategic districts!  Go to the volunteer registration form to sign up. On the registration form, there is a spot to list your carpool members so we make sure to assign you as a group to polls in the same area. In fact, we even have FDPA volunteers in strategic locations who are willing to host FDPA sleepovers for our road tripping volunteers.  Under “anything else” on the volunteer form, you can let us know if overnight lodging would make a long road trip easier. (Don’t forget to apply for an absentee ballot if you decide to join an all day road trip!)
