Urge Interior Secretary and US Fish and Wildlife Service to End Delays and Protect Endangered Wolves

From the Endangered Species Coalition (https://www.endangered.org/):

For the past 243 days, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has ignored the requirements of the Endangered Species Act and delayed a required decision on the protection of imperiled gray wolves in the Northern Rockies.

Tell Interior Secretary Haaland and USFWS Director Williams to stop stalling and make a decision to protect these imperiled wolves at https://actionnetwork.org/letters/no-more-delays-the-administration-must-follow-the-law-and-make-a-decision-to-protect-gray-wolves/.

You likely know that wolves in Montana and Idaho are facing unprecedented and extreme threats. In 2020, these two states opened the door for radical anti-wolf policies that now allow unlimited wolf killing in Idaho, and a “limit” of 20 wolves killed per person in Montana. Hunters and trappers are allowed to use neck snares, traps, baits, even calls designed to sound like a wolf pup to lure gray wolves to their death.

While the USFWS unlawfully delays in violation of the Endangered Species Act, wolves are being killed. Idaho does not publish public numbers of wolves killed. In Montana, at least 154 wolves have been gunned down or killed after suffering in a trap since the season started in September. Countless activists, biologists, even two former Directors of the USFWS and members of both houses of Congress have implored Secretary Haaland to act.

And yet, we are 26 days into 2023 and Secretary Haaland and Director Williams have taken no action and provided no explanation for their continued neglect. Please send Secretary Haaland and USFWS Director Williams an email today and demand that they correct course immediately.

Thank you for your commitment to wildlife and wild places.
