From Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania (http://www.housingalliancepa.org/):
Pennsylvania and its communities have been actively implementing eviction prevention and diversion strategies to keep families in their homes and make landlords whole. When the CDC eviction moratorium ends on July 31, we expect that there will be a spike in evictions that will destabilize tenants, landlords, communities, and work places.
Community leaders have been supporting tenants and landlords to avoid evictions by:
- launching emergency rental assistance programs (ERAP),
- creating landlord-tenant mediation programs as an alternative to resolving disputes in court, and
- establishing partnerships between those administering ERAP and the courts to help eligible renters access rental assistance to avoid an eviction.
Learn more about examples of collaborations between ERAP administrators and the courts to get rental assistance to tenants and prevent evictions. These partnerships are even more important with the anticipated lifting of the eviction moratorium as millions of dollars in emergency rental assistance are still available to prevent evictions for tenants and make landlords financially whole.
