From the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (http://www.nrcat.org):
NRCAT invites you to support and attend the End of Isolation Tour, an immersive play now touring nationwide. From mid-July through early September, the End of Isolation Tour will bring an immersive, transformative play, The BOX, to ten cities across the country.
Based on correspondence with incarcerated people and inspired by true events, The BOX underscores both the horror of solitary confinement and the humanity of people subjected to it. The play is set in the solitary unit of an unnamed prison, where men are confined 23 hours a day to 6×9 cells to remember (and often regret) the past, dream of the future, yearn for loved ones, and rage against the system that threatens their sanity and their souls.
The tour is scheduled for Austin, TX: 7/15-7/17; Fayetteville, AR: 7/22-7/24; St. Louis, MO: 7/27-7/29; Chicago, IL: 8/5-8/7; Detroit, MI: 8/9-8/10; Philadelphia, PA: 8/13-8/14; Baltimore, MD: 8/17-8/18; Washington, DC: 8/20-8/21; Winston-Salem, NC: 8/25-8/27; Atlanta, GA: 9/2-9/4. We invite you to attend a show in your area!
The BOX is written and directed by Sarah Shourd, who was held in solitary confinement for over 400 days as an American political prisoner in Iran. Several members of the nine-person cast and crew are formerly incarcerated.
