From Keystone Research Center/Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center (https://krc-pbpc.org/):
The Empowered to Run training is back. For our first session we had an amazing group of over 100 candidates and activists who learned about how to govern, how to navigate critical issues in Pennsylvania, and how to wield the levers of power for change.

Here’s what some of the participants from the first cohort had to say:
“This course helped me overcome some of my insecurities about not knowing enough to put myself out there as someone who wants to run. [Empowered To Run] is doing great work by giving people who care about their communities the tools to run for office.”
And . . .
“I am absolutely blown away by the amount of content presented in this course, how well it was presented, and how applicable it is…”

We are now opening a second cohort of this groundbreaking course: Navigate Pennsylvania Policy & Governance.

Who is it for?
- For current and future candidates for public office: prepare yourself to run and govern by learning the context around the biggest policy issues impacting your constituents, the stories and language your constituents use to speak about these issues, the governing authorities you will have access to once in office to affect these issues, and experts you can consult to dig deeper when needed.
- For current elected officials and their staffs, as well as community organization staff: strengthen your policy making and advocacy tradecraft, preparing to deliver results for your community and communicate your successes.
The program runs 2 months. We will host a welcome session on December 14, 2021. Then, part 1 kicks off January 4th and runs through January 18th. Part 2 starts February 1st and runs through March 8th. We will also offer an accelerated course for PA Legislative candidates who want to wrap up before nomination petitioning starts in mid-February.
Complete the assignments and you will earn a certificate of achievement and leave the course with a tailored policy briefing book to reference in your campaigns and beyond.
Thanks to the generous support of The Heinz Endowments and The Pittsburgh Foundation, the $750/person tuition is waived for this cohort. Sign up now while space is available! And bring a partner!
Each element of the course increases your EDG (Emotional quotient [EQ], Design quotient [DQ], and Government quotient [GQ]). This course is especially designed for Pennsylvanians wishing to raise their GQ.
