Your opportunity arrives this fall!
Keystone Research Center – which includes the PA Budget & Policy Center, Education Voters of PA, and the We The People campaign – is offering a semester-long course entitled, “Economics That Works for All: An Introductory Course”, taking place on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00, beginning on September 17th and continuing weekly through December 10th. Anyone & everyone who would like to learn more about positive & practical economic policies is invited to register & participate.
You can take the course in-person at the PA Capitol (Room 39E, on the lower level, directly across from the East Wing entrance) or online. Each week’s presentation, including questions & discussion, will be professionally videoed & produced and will be available for viewing by online students beginning the following day on a password-protected website; opportunities will be provided for online participants to ask questions & discuss topics presented in the sessions.

Economics That Works for All: An Introductory Course
When: Tuesdays, 6:30 pm to 8 pm, September 17th to December 10th (no class on Tuesday, November 26th)
Where: Room 39E, lower level, East Wing, PA Capitol, Harrisburg; online (available for viewing beginning on Wednesdays)
What: The course will work through applied policy issues (e.g., inequality, trade, the minimum wage, unions, technology & the future of work, climate change, and immigration), leading to articulation of alternative economic framework to mainstream economics. Reading materials will include articles and Doughnut Economics by Kate Raworth.
Who: Legislators & their staff; policy, program and research staff in state agencies; leaders, staff, & members of labor unions, nonprofit organizations, and advocacy groups; William Penn Fellows, interns from Pennsylvania colleges; and anyone with an interest in learning more about economics and public policy.
Why: Network with other up-and-coming leaders in PA, advance your understanding of economics and increase your confidence in discussing public policy issues, have fun, and get in on the ground floor of a more organized effort in PA build an alternative economic framework that can help achieve a better future.

Cost: Tuition for the course is $65 to help cover costs associated with providing refreshments, printing reading materials, and producing the online component of the class. Payment options will be provided following registration. Scholarships are available upon request; email Stephanie Frank with scholarship inquiries.
Credit: While not offered for credit, KRC will work with individual students who can get the course counted for credit within their program of study.
