From the Project on Government Oversight (http://www.pogo.org/):
This is alarming: A recent State Department report revealed that some U.S. defense contractors are under investigation for allegedly engaging in human trafficking and abusive practices toward their workers.
The American people deserve to know what kinds of companies our government is doing business with. That’s why POGO immediately pressed the State Department and Department of Defense for answers—and published an investigation in August identifying two of the companies whose defense contracts were suspended as a result of the human trafficking allegations.
This isn’t a new issue for POGO. Back in 2011, we testified before Congress about employee abuse by companies working for our government. Almost seven years later, it remains unacceptable that human trafficking can occur under the watch of our government and be funded with taxpayer dollars. That’s why we’re still calling for powerful safeguards and strong punishments to ensure we can help eradicate human trafficking.
POGO will continue to demand reform, and we need your voice with ours. Sign the petition demanding increased transparency and oversight of federal contractors to help fight human trafficking!

The U.S. government is the single largest purchaser of products and services in the global market, so it has the power and responsibility to deter unethical hiring and work practices. Thank you for standing up for increased transparency and oversight.
