Demand that the Administration Protect Workers in this Crisis

From 350.org (https://350.org/):

Today, we join an unprecedented coalition of labor, environmental, and climate organizations demanding that the government immediately increase protection for frontline workers. Nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals are treating patients without the basic protection and equipment they need to do their jobs.

As climate activists, we know the importance of centering those on the frontlines. Many of those fighting the COVID-19 pandemic are predominantly black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) whose lives are at immediate risk.

Send a message to your member of Congress today at https://act.350.org/letter/ppe-frontline-workers/ and urge him/her to demand that the Administration protect workers.

The desperate need for personal protective equipment (PPE) reaches beyond healthcare workers. It includes janitors, teachers’ aides, warehouse and manufacturing workers, home care providers, public service workers, bus operators, sanitation workers, telecom workers, childcare providers, farmworkers, cashiers, domestic workers, gig economy shoppers, drivers and many others, all at greater risk of contracting the coronavirus without adequate PPE to lessen exposure.

The Administration must immediately access the medical equipment needs, inventory supplies in the public and private sectors, prioritize and distribute those supplies fairly, and accelerate the production of needed supplies where gaps exist.

We also know that the needs of workers – including those now unemployed – extends into the future. Any stimulus plan and relief package must expand health protections for all and get millions of people back to work in secure jobs. Send a message to your member of Congress and let her/him know that they must take decisive action to protect workers.

Send your message today.
