From the Coalition on Human Needs (http://www.chn.org):
The pandemic has made it painfully clear that quality health care is an absolute must. We can no longer kick this can down the road.
Go to https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-congress-expand-medicare-and-medicaid-now to send a letter to your Senators and Representative demanding Congress use budget reconciliation to finally close the Medicaid coverage gap, providing millions of poor Americans life-saving health care; expand Medicare to cover vision, hearing and dental care; allow Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices; and invest the full $400 billion in homecare for the elderly and people with disabilities.
Right now, drug and insurance companies are lobbying Congress to eliminate health care expansions in order to protect their obscene profits. Alongside our champions in Congress, including Senate Budget Committee Chair Bernie Sanders, we’re fighting to expand Medicaid and Medicare.
We must ensure people who have been left out of the Medicaid expansion provided by the Affordable Care Act finally have the opportunity to get Medicaid and obtain the health care they need.
By providing coverage in the 12 states which have yet to expand Medicaid, more than 2.2 million poor Americans would obtain the health coverage they desperately need.
By adding vision, hearing and dental coverage to Medicare, we’re ensuring older Americans have the full health care benefits they need while limiting out-of-pocket expenses.
By expanding home care for the aging and people with disabilities, we’re keeping people in their homes and active in their communities while also ensuring care workers are paid a fair wage.
And, by allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices, we’re not just lowering out of pocket expenses for older Americans, but lowering drug prices for everyone!
Together, we can make lasting change. Thank you for all you do to fight for working families and marginalized communities.
