Submit Comment to Prevent Brown Bear Baiting

From the Alaska Wilderness League (http://www.alaskawild.org):

Just this week, the National Park Service finalized new rules that allow the killing of mother bears and cubs while they hibernate and shooting wolves and coyotes while they den with pups. It also allows hunters to lure bears with foods like doughnuts and dog food, so they can later be shot.

Today, they are proposing similar rules that allow brown bear baiting and state-regulated trapping on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Please submit a comment at https://secure.everyaction.com/lK8Nx8YsIkCw-eIrXniGGQ2 to make sure this doesn’t happen.

Killing off wolves and bears in this manner is not only unsporting, but it unbalances ecosystems and puts human lives at risk. Feeding bears conditions them to aggressively seek out humans as a source of food — a practice that shouldn’t be allowed on our public lands.

Fortunately, these new practices aren’t on the books yet in the Kenai, and your comments now can still make a difference. Your opposition is especially needed as bear populations in the region have already been heavily hunted in recent years.

Please submit your comment today to protect the bears and wolves of Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.

Your comment is crucial because it proves widespread public opposition, helps elevate this fight in Congress, gain standing in the courtrooms, and give direction to a potentially new presidential administration that takes office. Thank you for helping us fight back against unfair and dangerous practices on our wild lands. Bears and wolves in Alaska — and their little ones — need your help today.
