Despite progress toward protection, drilling could still occur in the Arctic Refuge.
Last June, the Biden administration suspended oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge — but the region is still at risk of drilling.1
The order by the Biden administration means that state agencies and oil companies that already own leases are not able to move forward with drilling for now. But with another lease sale currently required by law before 2024, oil companies could still bid and drill in the future.
To protect the Arctic Refuge and the wildlife that call it home, we’re calling on Chevron to abandon any and all plans to drill in this special place. Will you join us?

The Arctic Refuge is a safe haven for polar bears, caribou, wolves, and millions of migratory birds, among other wildlife. Due to this abundance of wildlife, for thousands of years, the native Gwich’in people have depended on this biological jewel for survival, with a culture centered around the caribou herd.2
Drilling and development could destroy the Arctic Refuge and the wildlife and people that depend on it. Drilling comes with more equipment and heavy vehicles dragged over the tundra and pipelines crossing polar bear calving ground.
It’s time for oil companies to publicly commit to not drilling in the Arctic Refuge. With your support, Chevron could lead the way.
