From the Pennsylvania Health Access Network (http://www.pahealthaccess.org):
We’re in the midst of a public health crisis, and the last thing people should have to worry about is whether they can afford to see their doctor. Meanwhile, 1 in 3 Pennsylvanians receives a surprise medical bill each year. These surprise bills can make people delay or avoid care, which makes all of us less safe.
Legislators in PA have already passed a bipartisan bill – HB 1862 – out of committee that would ban surprise medical bills, but it still hasn’t been brought to the floor for a vote. The PA House of Representatives has only a few session days left this month, which means that if they don’t take action now, Pennsylvanians will have to wait until fall.
