It took a year and massive public pressure, but the Administration recently announced that manufacture and sales of bump stocks will be prohibited in three months and those who own these accessories to semiautomatic rifles will have to surrender or destroy them. The US Congress failed to act on this public safety issue.
Heeding Executive Director Bryan Miller stated: “As dangerous as they are, bump stocks, which virtually convert semi-auto assault rifles into machine guns, are only accessories and are of use in mass shootings only if appended to semi-auto assault rifles. It’s assault rifles, made to kill as many people as quickly as possible, that make mass shootings possible and likely. Heeding will, in conjunction with our colleagues, push hard for prohibiting these abominable guns. Demand the Ban!”
