From the Pennsylvania Health Access Network (http://www.pahealthaccess.org):
Late last night, President Trump took the most drastic step yet in sabotaging the ACA by putting an end to cost-sharing subsidies, calling them “bailouts to insurance companies.”
This is unconscionable. While President Trump tries to single-handedly undermine the Affordable Care Act, hardworking people will suffer. These payments help families afford their out-of-pocket costs, and CBO estimates that 1 million people will lose coverage by next year.
Yanking them at this late hour — just as insurers are finalizing their rates for 2018 — is intended to do 2 things: force last-minute premium spikes and set off a panic that causes insurers to leave the market.
