From Appalachian Voices (http://www.appvoices.org/):
The proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline would transport fracked gas 600 miles through West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina. The pipeline would permanently damage our forests — spoiling views from the Appalachian Trail — and its climate impact is estimated to be the equivalent of 20 coal-fired power plants or adding 14 million cars to the road.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has the power to approve or deny the pipeline, and they need to hear from you. Act now and tell FERC to reject the Atlantic Coast Pipeline at http://appvoices.org/fracking/acp-ferc-comments.
This pipeline is not needed. Studies show that existing infrastructure is sufficient to meet our energy needs without the ACP and other proposed pipelines. Instead of sinking billions of dollars into new fossil fuel infrastructure, our region should invest in clean energy resources.
Constructing the Atlantic Coast Pipeline would threaten headwater streams, wetlands and groundwater. It would endanger important cultural and historic resources, and disproportionately impact Indigenous communities and communities of color. FERC approval would enable private property to be taken for the pipeline’s construction.
This is the final week of public comment. Tell FERC that the Atlantic Coast Pipeline is not necessary, not in the public interest, and poses major threats to our climate and environment.
