Urge Your Representative to Sign Letter to House Ag Committee Protecting SNAP and Other Nutrition Programs

From the Coalition on Human Needs (http://www.chn.org):

Now that the Super Committee has failed to reach an agreement on deficit reduction, action shifts to the House and Senate Agriculture Committees to develop a Farm Bill.  Reps. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and James McGovern (D-MA) are circulating a Dear Colleague letter urging the House Agriculture Committee to protect SNAP and other low-income nutrition programs as it considers options for the next farm bill.

Urge your House Member to support SNAP and nutrition programs by signing the letter by Friday, December 9, COB. You can find contact information for your Representative at http://www.house.gov. (NOTE: Mike Doyle and Robert Brady have already signed on—if you live in either of their districts, please thank them for their support.)

View the letter at http://www.frac.org/pdf/McGovernDeLauroLetter.pdf.

Go to http://frac.org/pdf/McGovern_SelectCommittee2011.pdf to view a recent letter signed by 127 House Members urging the Super Committee to protect SNAP and other low-income safety net programs from budget cuts. (NOTE: Mike Doyle, Robert Brady, and Chaka Fattah signed this letter.)

Please share this request widely.  For more information, call Ellen Teller, eteller@frac.org or Etienne Melcher, emelcher@frac.org.

One Response to Urge Your Representative to Sign Letter to House Ag Committee Protecting SNAP and Other Nutrition Programs

  1. Mary Scanlon says:

We must feed our children in order for them to become healthy students. Help independent farmers to grow healthful crops. The mega-farms don’t need fed support!
