From the Sentencing Project (http://www.sentencingproject.org/template/index.cfm):
The Sentencing Project has joined with more than 40 of the nation’s leading criminal justice reform organizations to release a comprehensive report examining the nation’s criminal justice system.
The new report, (http://www.besmartoncrime.org/pdf/Complete.pdf), reviews federal policy and offers recommendations for reform in 16 key criminal justice areas. These include sentencing policy, juvenile justice, reentry, and overall systems change.
The Smart on Crime document will be used in our advocacy work with members of
Congress and the Administration as we try to advance our agenda for reform.
We hope you find this publication useful in your work, and encourage you to be in touch
with our Director of Advocacy, Kara Gotsch, at to
discuss how we can support your efforts in the area of policy reform.
