It’s a great way to:

  • Help pass legislation to end valley fills, one of the worst effects of mountaintop removal mining
  • Protect our mountains, our Appalachian neighbors, and our children’s future
  • Meet and work with other passionate Appalachian activists from around the country
  • Meet face to face with legislators to help inspire and educate their decisions
  • Enjoy the sights and sounds of Washington, DC!

We are making a personal appeal for you to attend.

Why? Because your member of congress is a top-tier target for advancement of the Clean Water Protection Act, which would severely curtail mountaintop removal coal mining. As part of the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment, your member of congress will decide if the Clean Water Protection Act will go to the floor of the House of Representatives for a vote and perhaps one day become law.

While we do have limited scholarship opportunities, citizens in key Congressional districts have top priority for receiving scholarship monies. But hurry, the scholarship deadline of Feb. 18th is quickly approaching, apply now: http://www.ilovemountains.org/wiw.
