From the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center (http://www.pennbpc.org):
Governor Tom Corbett can’t escape the call to close corporate tax loopholes in Pennsylvania — even before the business-friendly audience of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
As the Philadelphia Daily News reports (http://articles.philly.com/2012-05-17/news/31727822_1_corbett-state-budget-business-taxes), more than 100 people on Tuesday protested tax loopholes and state cuts to schools outside a Chamber-sponsored question-and-answer session with the Governor. Inside, moderator Marty Moss-Coane, host of WHYY’s Radio Times, twice asked Governor Corbett about corporate tax loopholes that cost the state an estimated $500 million per year. Both times, the Governor dodged the question. Clearly we are making a difference in this debate.
Every day, Pennsylvanians are asking why the Governor is choosing to cut funding for schools and investments in our communities, while giving tax dodgers a free pass?
Send a message. Sign our better budget petition today at http://org2.democracyinaction.org/o/6751/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=10262. Tell Governor Corbett and state lawmakers that Pennsylvania cannot afford to ignore tax loopholes or enact a major business tax cut next year.
How can you in conscience cut funding to schools and yet encourage tax cuts for businesses? That is unjust.
