From PennFuture (http://www.pennfuture.org):
With budget hearings underway and debates about state spending on the horizon, you can keep tabs on the Commonwealth’s economic health at the new Independent Fiscal Office (http://www.ifo.state.pa.us/index.cfm). The office, created last year by the General Assembly, is charged with preparing state revenue estimates, determining the state’s current and future fiscal condition, evaluating the performance of executive-level departments, conducting an analysis of all tax revenue proposals, and studying the existing sales tax to identify ways to improve it. The office also provides other economic analyses, including independent scrutiny of the state budget. The office’s website is already full of interesting economic data, including national employment figures, home sales, and other stats, with much more under development.
